Nowadays, we often hear preachers say that the church and religion are no longer important because, what matters, according to them, is relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ. And via this relationship with Christ, man would become worthy in the sight of God. They also claim that the church could not save a man.

If you are a keen student of the Bible, you would readily discern that such are claims and beliefs of impertinent people who have a very obscure understanding of the Bible. Of course, the church per se could not really save a man. But why is the church necessary? In the first place, is it needed or not?

If we will only exercise logic and common sense, we will not be misled. By using our common sense, let us see for ourselves if the church is needed. Common sense tells me that if it is not important, then, our Lord Jesus should not have established it! If the church is not needed, it would appear that our Lord Jesus Christ does not exercise common sense. Why build a church when it is not needed after all? It is just like installing a post, or a pillar that did not reach up to the roof. Of what use is that pillar if that is the case? If it is unnecessary you better discard it, otherwise, your head might just bump into it. If you insist in having it there, that is a proof of your lack of common sense.

non-christians dont need to study religion then?

on Oct 31, 2004
of course not...because we first have to know who are Christians and who are non-Christians? In the Bible, you are only considered a Christian if you are baptized in the Church which Jesus Christ and the Apostles taught that we should enter to be saved. And one of the most important task for us to study the right religion or Church that we need to enter to be saved.

In our times, there are many religions that exists, some are even proclaiming that they carry the preachings of Christ and the Bible. But we should be discernful and intelligent to know if the religion that we are in is the one mentioned in the Bible for us to join or enter ...

Actually, it's not baptized in the Church, it's baptized in the Holy Spirit. The Church, as spoken of in the Bible, is not a building. The Church is the group of believers.

Religion will not save anyone. The bible teaches that believing and acceptance are what saes us, not the Church. The Church was established not to save anyone, but to preach the message, and to teach. Knowing if what is being taught is correct is simply a matter of reading the Bible. If what is being taught contradicts what is written, you're in the wrong place.

I would not say that the Church isn't important, if you use the correct definition of the Church. The Church is the body of all believers in Christ, all over the world. To "enter" the Church simply means to become a believer in Christ, not to actually enter into some building or other.
